Business Background
Jim grew up in a small business family that taught him a quality work ethic that he brought with him as he began his 13 years in property management. He entered the industry in Minnesota with one of the upper Midwest's largest property management companies. He was responsible for troubleshooting poorly performing properties and then proposing and implementing the improvement plan. Jim moved up and spent five years with one of the nation’s largest property management companies until they recently sold their properties in Minnesota.
Family
Jim is the youngest of four born to Jerry and Gena Schottmuller. He's a lifelong resident of Minnesota, primarily living in Ramsey County with only a few young years in neighboring Washington County. Jim and his wife, Angie, have been married for eight years. They love kids (none of their own - yet!) and have a dog and a cat. For fun, they love hosting youth group events, spending time with family, watching football and NASCAR, and taking scuba diving trips when possible.
Strengths
Jim is analytical and has a track record of making informed tough decisions that pay off. He has a history of operating under budget and making wise spending choices. He has great rapport and uses his communication skills to influence decisions and win support. He feels that the views of the silent majority have not been adequately presented by the Board and is steadfast in his determination to represent the people of Ramsey County District 1.
